Recreation entrepreneurs, in particular, can make a significant contribution to Dutch national parks. This is according to David van Zelm van Eldik, program manager of the National Parks Bureau, in the May issue of the magazine Recreation. According to him, the strength of national parks lies precisely in collaboration between entrepreneurs, nature organizations, governments, and residents.
'National parks can, as a cooperation partnership, effectively address the accumulation of tasks that await us in the coming decades. Think of challenges like water quality and nitrogen.'
Communicating Vessels
'Nature and recreation are communicating vessels. It is the balance of give and take. Everyone has a role. The citizen, the governments, and certainly entrepreneurs. They may have one of the most important
roles. They are the driving force behind developing and utilizing landscapes.'
Mutual Trust
'It's about advocating for the interests of another. By serving the interests of nature as a recreation entrepreneur, mutual trust is built. Respecting each other's goals provides mutual benefits. Beautiful and resilient nature is, after all, directly in the interest of the recreation sector. We do it with our partners.'
