Rik is proud of his farming life and the Drentsche Aa area
“This area is my home and workplace, my living environment. The best-preserved brook and esdorp landscape with a beautiful meandering stream, that's simply fantastic. You can see nature changing here with the seasons, it's wonderful. As a child, I already enjoyed walking through the farmlands with my father and grandfather, and now I do it with my own children. Here, nature and agriculture go well together. Of course, there are some limitations, but if you keep seeing the beautiful sides of existence, life here is good. Our cows are in the brook valley behind our farm by the stream. That's our young cattle. We let them graze outside as much as possible and don't keep them in the stable. I enjoy that. By the way, they are real darlings because when it's cold like now, they stand at the gate wanting to go inside.”
