With a three-master named Abel Tasman to the Marker Wadden, the newly created island group of approximately 10,000 hectares in the Markermeer. This beautiful nature paradise is a unique place where explorers, peace seekers, hikers, and bird watchers quickly run out of time.

Sailing to a unique nature area in development

With an authentic sailing ship, you can reach the Marker Wadden island group from the port of Lelystad or Hoorn in about two hours. The islands are created with sand, clay, and silt from the Markermeer. On the islands, with natural shores, new nature continues to develop to this day. Both underwater and above water. It is truly a nature paradise for fish and birds.

But various facilities are also being developed for people. You can enjoy walking on the ten kilometers of walking and boardwalk paths and bird watching, or let the wind blow through your hair on the recreational beach. Or view the area from a bird's-eye view and climb the twelve-meter high observation tower De Steltloper. Once at the top, you can enjoy the unique view over the Markermeer with the iconic Dutch cloudy sky above it.

Staying in an Island Cottage

On Haveneiland, four self-sufficient island cottages are being built. And what's very special about this is that the rental income benefits the nature in this area.
