From February 28 to March 8, the annual Week of the Volunteer takes place, during which volunteers across the Netherlands are put in the spotlight. Volunteers are also indispensable for national parks. Every week, hundreds of people volunteer in nature management, education, and visitor reception in national parks. During the Week of the Volunteer, we especially acknowledge their efforts. We appreciate the work that often happens behind the scenes but is essential for the preservation of our nature and its enjoyment.
Involvement
Volunteers play a crucial role in the protection and enhancement of Dutch national parks. They assist in maintaining walking trails, organize excursions, count animals and plants, and inform visitors about, among other things, the importance of biodiversity. Thanks to their involvement, these natural areas remain not only well-maintained but also accessible and educational for the public. The Week of the Volunteer emphasizes that national parks are not just natural areas, but also communities where collaboration, passion, and care for the landscape take center stage.
