At ITB in Berlin, the world's largest trade fair for tourism, Van Gogh National Park achieved first place on March 4th in the category Destination Management of the Green Destinations Top 100 Story Awards 2026. An international jury of experts from Green Destinations awarded this prize.

The award was granted for the project WandelStarter. The WandelStarter shows alternative starting points for walks and encourages visitors to discover other locations closer to cities and villages. This helps to better spread the crowds and keep vulnerable natural areas protected.

Good Living

Brabant Partners initiated the project within Van Gogh National Park and further rolled it out across the whole of Brabant. In this project, Brabant Partners collaborates with 56 municipalities, water boards, nature organizations, mobility experts, and tourist organizations. In this way, Van Gogh National Park demonstrates that sustainable destination management works. Sustainable tourism and recreation are central to the activities under the name Good Living. This way, many parties work together towards a livable region where residents and visitors can enjoy Brabant now and in the future.

Actively guiding travel behavior

The next step is to actively guide travel behavior. This is done by making public transport starting points visible on WandelStarter. This encourages traveling by public transport to nature and makes sustainable choices more self-evident.
