How do you entice visitors to visit nature using public transport, bicycle, or on foot? National Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug opts for a striking approach at Amersfoort Central Station. Since mid-July, the artwork 'OV-ree' has been positioned there, playfully pointing out the proximity of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug to travelers.
The artwork is located at the station and literally forms a connection between the city and the nature area. A QR code on the artwork directs visitors to information and inspiration for a sustainable visit, including walking and cycling routes accessible from the station.
Sustainable mobility
The approach shows how a national park can utilize a public transport hub as a gateway to nature. With relatively simple means, a recognizable point is created where mobility, recreation, and nature come together. By informing and inspiring visitors at the station, sustainable mobility becomes part of the recreational experience.

The 'Public Transport Deer' is a collaboration between National Park Utrechtse Heuvelrug, the municipality of Amersfoort, and Mothership. The realization is made possible in part by the international Interreg project MONA, which focuses on sustainable, nature-oriented mobility and recreation in nature areas.
