From January 1, parents, grandparents, or other family members can plant the first trees with a child up to 12 years old in the new children's forest in National Park De Meinweg. The trees will form a new forest in the coming years, an initiative of the National Tree Day Foundation and Staatsbosbeheer.
The planting of trees takes place during an annual planting day, where children, together with family members and a forest ranger, get to work themselves. The goal is to bring children into contact with nature. Participants receive a certificate afterwards.
The new planting is part of a broader initiative to make children more aware of nature and trees. It also contributes to the greening of Limburg. For more information, visit the website of the Boomfeestdag foundation.
