This year, a Walking Blog about one of the 22 national parks will appear monthly on the Wandelnet site. The walking blog in May is about Nieuw Land National Park. This is the second youngest national park in our country. The editor, together with host Evert Aldewereld, takes a few walks from the Nature Experience Center De Oostvaarders in Almere, on the edge of the Oostvaardersplassen.

Along the way, he learns more about the creation of the area and the 'marsh reset'. The water level has been lowered to restore the reed vegetation essential for many bird species. The abundance of reeds and the variation in water levels make the Oostvaardersplassen, along with the tranquility and size of the area, a paradise for birds.
