October 17: National Boots Day

Join the whisper boat the Sterling and discover the beautiful nature of the Biesbosch. Along the way, you will disembark for a walk through unique areas, while Biesbosch guides tell you everything about the importance of water – past, present, and future.

During this walk of approximately 4 kilometers, you will discover the beautiful freshwater tidal nature of the Biesbosch. A nature guide will tell you along the way about the unique flora and fauna that live here.

Splashy and muddy activities for young and old. Go on an expedition along the boot path, make a healthy snack, discover soil creatures, or learn to walk with a compass.

Join us on an exploration along the ditches at Huttopia, to see which unique animals and plants live in and around the water. With nets, you catch small aquatic animals, examine them up close, and learn how important healthy water is for nature.

An afternoon full of nature work, exploration around mental health, and eating together in this unique raised bog area on the border of Brabant and Limburg.

Join us on the new excursion 'Face to Face with Peel Water'. Together with two guides, you will discover the special relationship between the Peel and water.

During this Boots Expedition, you'll set out with a Peel guide, discover how the Peel was formed, why this area is so special, and how important it is to preserve this natural area.

During this activity, you will do fun experiments with water. You can also search for aquatic animals in the large fen!

Children can have a great time at the water playground, go on a water creature expedition, or participate in fun activities. Those who dare can join the contest "Who makes the highest splashes in a puddle of water." The visitor center is open all day for information and a glimpse into the world of the Drentsche Aa National Park.

Participate in fun experiments with water or ponder over the climate dilemmas of nature during a walk or bike ride. This way, you'll go home not only with beautiful nature experiences but also with a relevant story.

Boots Trail in the Duivenvoordse and Veenzijdse Polder

During this walk, you wander through the backwoods of the Duivenvoordse and Veenzijdse Polder, straight through the mud, over ditches, and past fallen trees.

Boot Path in the Duivenvoordse and Veenzijdse Polder

The gnomes in Lauwersmeer National Park also notice that the climate is changing. Long dry periods alternate with heavy downpours. How do the gnomes ensure sufficient and clean water and how do they keep their feet dry? Put on your boots and discover it, together with the gnomes, in the Lauwersmeer National Park.

Discover a water-rich bird paradise on this young archipelago in the Nieuw Land National Park. The ferry will operate this year until November 2nd.

Join a guide in Nieuw Land National Park and spot the birds of the Oostvaardersplassen. Resting, foraging, or breeding... many bird species feel at home in this vast marshland.

Join the wet boots hike: through muddy creeks and over salt marshes and mudflats. This unique landscape is shaped by saltwater, but freshwater is also crucial here. Discover it together with the guide.

During the doemarkt, you will discover all about water and climate. There are experiments, a water table, films about the freshwater lens on Schiermonnikoog for both young and old, and you can decorate your own boot with collected material. There are also water barrels, energy scans, and an apple pie contest. In the evening, we will conclude with the film Biggest Little Farm, with an introduction by the councilor.
