How can national parks and local stakeholders contribute to the development of transition areas? This question is central to the webinar of the National Parks Bureau on Monday, September 28 from 10:00 to 12:00. Two recent publications are central: the practical workbook Transition Areas in Transition and the guide Living on Farmyards - Vital Rural Area.

The webinar offers an overview of various guidelines and practical tools for the development of a vital rural area. Participants will not only receive explanations about the publications but also hear how they are applied in practice.

Transitional Areas in Transition

Diana Balster from the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations (BZK) and Feline Verbrugge of H+N+S Landscape Architects provide an explanation of the recently published practical workbook Transitional Areas in Transition. Subsequently, Peter van Soest from National Park De Meinweg and Fred Lansbergen from National Park Hollandse Duinen share their experiences with the guidelines.

Living on Farmsteads

In the section Living on Farmsteads – a vital rural area, Frank Stroeken from Wing explains the inspiration guide for policymakers. Tom Onderstal from the municipality of Berg en Dal then shares practical experiences with residential development on farmsteads and how the municipality facilitates such initiatives.

What Role Can National Parks Play?

The webinar concludes with a panel discussion led by David van Zelm van Eldik, program manager of the National Parks Bureau. Representatives from provinces and national parks discuss how regional parties can work with the challenges in transitional areas and what role national parks can play in this.
