National Park De Alde Feanen has existed for twenty years. The park's partners are seizing this milestone as an opportunity to look ahead. With the new Cooperation Agreement for National Park De Alde Feanen, they reaffirm the joint course of the park's Consultation Body.

For twenty years, governments, land managers, entrepreneurs, and social organizations have been collaborating on the area through the National Park Alde Feanen Consultation Body. In addition to the province of Fryslân and the municipalities of Smallingerland, Tytsjerksteradiel, and Leeuwarden, parties such as It Fryske Gea, Wetterskip Fryslân, the Frisian Environmental Federation, and various tourism and water sports organizations are also signing to continue the intensive collaboration for a future-proof national park.

Robust future

With the signatures under the new declaration, these parties promise to commit themselves once again to a robust future for the area. Nature is prioritized in the agreements, but there remains room for recreation, residents, and education. In this way, the partners aim to preserve the unique landscape and pass it on to future generations. Education plays a major role; the partners wish to continue making future generations aware of the value and beauty of this unique part of Friesland.
