With the start of spring, the new website www.nationaleparken.nl ensures that from now on all information about national parks in the Netherlands can be found in one place. The National Parks Partnership (SNP) and the National Parks Bureau (NPB) have combined their strengths and information.
Information and inspiration
Gijs de Kruif, chairman of the National Parks Partnership: ‘With the new website, we initially make it easier for visitors. We have brought all information about national parks together in one central place. You will find all the basic information about the 21 national parks that our country currently has, but also information about the organization and partners of national parks. In addition, the site contains a knowledge platform with, among other things, reports, visions, and good examples from parks. Parks that often deal with similar issues can find information and inspiration here. We will further expand this platform in the future’.
Strengthening recognition and unity
Saskia de Mol van Otterloo, program manager of the National Parks Bureau, emphasizes the importance of a joint website. ‘The fact that the organizations and parks now present themselves in a central place contributes to the recognition of the parks and shows what binds them, but also how they differ from each other. In addition, we now also bring the joint activities, such as the Day of the National Park on May 24, together in one place. This provides an overview. For detailed information or, for example, booking an excursion, visitors are referred to the individual park sites. We will display parts of the site in English and German’.
Knowing and appreciating
Since 2024, a new policy program for the national parks in the Netherlands has been in effect, describing how park organizations, provinces, the state, and partners want to shape the development of national parks into resilient and experienceable nature and landscape areas in the coming years. One of the goals from the policy program of the national parks is to increase the recognition and unity of the joint parks in the Netherlands. The new website is one of the ways to achieve this goal. Together, we strive for every Dutch person to know that our country has national parks and to be proud of them.
