From September 5th to 12th, the Oosterschelde National Park is organizing the 18th edition of the Oosterschelde Week. A week full of excursions and activities to explore the unique tidal area up close. On September 9th, the symposium on sand starvation in the Oosterschelde will take place.
Visitors can join activities such as a snorkeling safari, seal safari, seaweed walk, or trip over mudflats and salt marshes. There are also boat trips, sea kayaking excursions, and culinary activities. Especially during the Oosterschelde Week, there are special excursions to places like the Kapelse Moer and the Plompe Toren, and visitors can join searches for sharks in the Oosterschelde.
Symposium on Sand Hunger
On September 9, a symposium will take place at the Topshuis on Neeltje Jans about sand hunger in the Oosterschelde. The National Park Oosterschelde is organizing this together with Rijkswaterstaat and Natuurmonumenten. Experts will discuss the unique life in the tidal area, lessons from the past, and the future of the Oosterschelde.
